Our story

WatchGas is a global manufacturer of advanced gas detection technology, built for professionals working in environments where safety is critical and mistakes are not an option. Our mission is clear: to protect people, processes, and environments with reliable, intuitive, and accessible gas detection solutions that raise the standard for safety across industries. Founded in 2018 in Rotterdam, Europe’s largest logistics hub, WatchGas was created with a bold vision, to become a modern, agile alternative to traditional gas detection brands. From day one, our focus has been on engineering excellence, rapid innovation, and listening closely to customer needs, rather than being constrained by legacy systems or slow development cycles.

Today, WatchGas operates globally with headquarters in Rotterdam and regional operations in the United States, Singapore, and Dubai, supported by sales representatives across Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Scandinavia. Our worldwide distribution network spans more than 150 countries, ensuring that wherever safety matters, WatchGas is close by.

2018

The Beginning
Our first office opened in the Rotterdam area (The Netherlands). With over 30 years of industry expertise, our CEO Patrick Sieben launched WatchGas to solve long-standing challenges in the gas detection market. Customer focus, long-term partnerships and accessible high-end technology became the DNA of our brand.
2019

Building the Foundation
By integrating a series of selected legacy products into the WatchGas portfolio, we rapidly accelerated our market presence. These devices helped WatchGas establish the trust, quality reputation and commercial presence we continue to build on today.
2020

Full Brand Focus
Our ambition became clear: WatchGas will create its own product ecosystem.
From engineering and hardware design to firmware, manufacturing and support, full ownership meant unparalleled quality, better pricing, and service tailored to the real world.
2021

Entering the R&D Era
We expanded our Research & Development team and invested in global scaling. Market testing, customer interviews and field research shaped the technological direction of what would soon become our flagship innovation.
2022

Going Global
We strengthened our teams worldwide, opened new offices in the USA, Middle East and Singapore, and refined our innovation roadmap. Guided by our core pillars, Partnership, Trust, Service, Knowledge, Teamwork, Innovation, Fun and Support, WatchGas prepared for the next leap.
2023

Launch of the SST Range
We introduced the SST1 (2/3 Years & Serviceable) and the SST Dock and Compliance Kiosk. Designed to make compliance faster, easier and more cost-effective, the SST ecosystem quickly became one of the most competitive solutions in the portable gas detection segment.
2024

Expanding the Ecosystem
The year 2024 marked the expansion of our product line with the SST4 Micro, SST4 Mini and RTR Smart Safety Solution Software. With global growth, stronger partnerships and deeper market insights, WatchGas continues to deliver technologies that help any partner, in any region, maintain safe operations. This was the year our SST Range ecosystem truly took shape, offering innovative solutions and seamless integration for gas detection.

Strengthening Our Presence
In 2025, our focus on gas detection became clearer than ever. WatchGas continues to establish itself as a key player in the industry, driving growth and innovation. We achieved significant milestones, including our major presence at A+A, which showcased our expanding range of cutting-edge products.

This year also highlighted our commitment to innovation on a global scale, with new solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers. From advanced detection technologies to smart safety solutions, 2025 has reinforced WatchGas’ position as a trusted partner in industrial gas safety worldwide.
